A final course grade combines your performance before the final exam with the final exam's contribution to the overall course grade. This calculator assumes the current grade you enter represents all coursework completed before the final exam.
How to Calculate Your Final Grade
First subtract the final exam weight from 100 to find the remaining coursework weight. Then multiply each score by its weight and add the two contributions.
Final Grade Formula
Final Grade = (Current Grade x Remaining Coursework Weight) + (Final Exam Score x Final Exam Weight) when weights are written as decimals.
In percentage form: Final Grade = Current Grade x (100 - Final Exam Weight) ÷ 100 + Final Exam Score x Final Exam Weight ÷ 100.
Final Grade Example
Current grade = 85%, final exam weight = 30%, and final exam score = 90%. The coursework weight is 70%, so 85 x 0.70 = 59.50 and 90 x 0.30 = 27.00. The final grade is 59.50 + 27.00 = 86.50%.
